The Austin Metropolitan Area Regional Science and Engineering Fair is one of the largest regional science fairs in Texas, with nearly 3,000 students from third to twelfth grade participating. This event is open to junior and senior high school students, elementary school students, judges, and volunteers. During the fair, more than 350 judges will be needed to evaluate projects in over 20 categories covering engineering, life sciences, and physical sciences. The Best of Fair Senior Division projects are eligible to move on to the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair. This year marked the first time that Austin Energy sent an all-female delegation to the international science fair. The Austin Foundation for Science Education (ASEF) is dedicated to promoting knowledge and participation in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) among students and teachers.
