Renaissance Academy students have the opportunity to take part in the PSIA every year. This academic competition is open to private school students from first to eighth grade, and the winners of the regional competitions will compete in the state competition held at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. The Texas Science and Engineering Fair (TXSEF) is an annual event sponsored by TWC, ExxonMobil and other partners and organized by Texas A&M University for high school and high school students. The Austin Energy Regional Science Festival (AERSF) is one of the 14 largest regional science fairs in Texas. Finalists can participate as a team or individually in the science fair competition.
Students have the chance to showcase their research and receive recognition for their hard work from industry experts who serve as volunteer judges. Science fairs offer students advanced education in science, mathematics, engineering, and social sciences. Some of the winning entries from the senior divisions will compete at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).The Austin Science Education Foundation (ASEF), a nonprofit organization recognized by the IRS, promotes student knowledge and participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics by allowing participation in the Austin Regional Energy Science Festival and supporting students selected to attend the Texas Science and Engineering Fair and the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair. However, our district's science fair only allows fourth through sixth grade students to take part, while the state fair is for students in fifth grade or older. The goal of a science fair is to encourage students from continuing to explore science throughout their education.
Even preschool children can participate in a science fair project with additional help and guidance from their teacher. High school and high school students who win first, second, or third place in AERSF will advance to compete against other Texas students at the Texas Science and Engineering Fair. That way, the students were proud to take part and the teacher was able to model the entire process and guide them through the right way to carry out a science fair project.
